Circular 01

To the players of the Football Club Belize – Belize City (Province of Belize) – Belize   Circular No. 01   Anápolis GO – (Brazil), November 12, 2012   Dear football players, remember that everything comes to an end in this world... and the time of hoarding treasures in heaven is now, so do good deeds while you can: “...take thought for what is noble in the sight of all” (Rm 12, 17).   An athlete cannot get involved with the sport and turn his back on God and on the salvation of his soul; he must often remember that eternal life depends on the life that we live in this world; therefore, we must do good and never surrender... even if we must fight against everything and everyone: “Today God invites you to do good; do it therefore today. Tomorrow you may not have time, or God may no longer call you to do it” (St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori). Thousands of football players live in this world as if God did not exist... as if there is no heaven... Hell... as if they will never die. What an illusion! What a danger! Dear friends, remember that the world, the enemy of God and of the souls, is misleading... it completely undermines the souls who serve Him, making them its slaves. The goods offered by the world cannot make an immortal soul happy... lovers of the world feed off the illusion of being happy. Remember that the world is an enemy to God, and he who serves it is an enemy of Jesus Christ: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is” (James 4, 4). Dear friends, never abandon the true wealth that God is to be dragged behind the vanities of the world... its fruits are rotten: “What fruit do I now reap from them, except bitterness, stings of conscience, anguish of heart, sins to be atoned for, either in this life by sorrow, or to be bewailed in vain in the next?” (Fr. Peter Arnoudt). Read an excerpt of the Holy Scripture every day, and leave aside dangerous readings. Persevere on the path of holiness... do not throw your lives away, rather enjoy it doing only what pleases God. I pray for you, for the board, and for fans of this diligent team. Aos jogadores de futebol do Football Club Belize – Belize City (Provincia de Belize) – Belize   Circular nº 01   Anápolis GO – (Brasil), 12 de novembro de 2012   Caríssimos jogadores de futebol, lembrem-se de que tudo passa nesse mundo... e o tempo de entesourar tesouros no céu é agora; por isso,  realizem boas obras enquanto é tempo: “... seja vossa preocupação fazer o que é bom para todos os homens” (Rm 12, 17).   Um atleta não pode se envolver com o esporte e voltar as costas para Deus e para a salvação de sua alma; o mesmo deve lembrar com frequência de que a vida eterna depende da vida que se leve neste mundo; por isso, é preciso realizar o bem sem jamais desistir... mesmo que tenha que lutar contra tudo e contra todos: “Hoje Deus te chama a fazer o bem; faze-o hoje mesmo, porque amanhã talvez já não terás tempo, ou Deus não te chamará” (Santo Afonso Maria de Ligório). Milhares de jogadores de futebol vivem nesse mundo como se Deus não existisse... como se não existisse o céu... o inferno... como se nunca fossem morrer. Quanta ilusão! Que perigo! Estimados, lembrem-se de que o mundo, inimigo de Deus e das almas, é enganoso... ele prejudica completamente as almas que o servem, tornando-as suas escravas. Os bens oferecidos pelo mundo não podem deixar uma alma imortal feliz... os amantes do mundo se alimentam da ilusão de serem felizes. Lembrem-se de que o mundo é inimigo de Deus, e aquele que o serve torna-se inimigo de Jesus Cristo: “Adúlteros, não sabeis que a amizade com o mundo é inimizade com Deus? Assim, todo aquele que quer ser amigo do mundo torna-se inimigo de Deus” (Tg 4, 4). Prezados, jamais abandonem a verdadeira riqueza que é Deus para se arrastarem atrás das vaidades do mundo... os seus frutos são podres: “Que frutos colhi dos anos que servi o mundo, senão amargura, remorsos de consciência, angústias de coração, pecados a expiar com dores nesta vida ou a lamentar na outra” (Pe. Pedro Arnoudt). Leiam todos os dias um trecho da Sagrada Escritura, e deixem de lado as leituras perigosas. Perseverem no caminho da santidade... não joguem a vida fora , mas aproveitem-na realizando somente o que agrada a Deus. Rezo por vocês, pela diretoria e torcedores dessa esforçada equipe.
